Chloe’s of Captiva carries Groceries Apparel, a small but mighty brand from California. They make casual and comfortable clothes with a refined edge and a forthright conscience. From the perfect T-shirt dress with pockets, to the darling high-waisted cotton pull-on shorts, this brand makes looking nonchalant feel so good!
The manifesto for Groceries Apparel speaks to the agenda of creating a demand for values, and they would rather go belly-up than compromise their standards. They run their business with an unwavering dedication to their local farmers and community, a mindfulness and respect for the environment and a cunning eye for subtle detail.
The Groceries Apparel factory is vertically-integrated, supports local family farms and utilizes hometown manufacturing. Every step of the design process, from the drawing board to the vegetable-dye studio and the shipping is done in house. This minimizes redundancy, waste, and their carbon footprint. It maximizes quality, efficiency, and provides living wages for 70 full-time employees.
Researching this line of clothing was an eye-opener for Chloe's, and the line is impressive. The material sourced for their awesomeness is either GMO free/ organic/ sustainable, recycled or all of the above. It's all non-toxic.
Their polyester is derived from recycled plastic. The cotton they use is either post-consumer repurposed or non-GMO. The hemp and flax can grow almost anywhere. These fiber sources are fast growing, renewable, naturally pest resistant and require a fraction of the water that cotton needs. Flax is one of the oldest known fibers used for fabric. Hemp produces more fiber per yield than any other source, it possesses antimicrobial properties and is resistant to damage caused by saltwater or sun exposure.
Feel good so far? Wait until you get the tactile experience! Their fabrics are so soft! Not to mention, the adorable styles.
